The Community of Lingayen is situated at 22 Maramba Boulevard cor. Sto. Niño East Street, Lingayen, Pangasinan.  It is composed of 6 perpetually professed Sisters serving the Local Church in the School Apostolate, Feeding Program, and the Diocesan Basic Ecclesial Communities Program. Sr. Edna G. Apolonio, the School Finance Officer, is also the superior of the community; Sr. Ales Paz O. Pamplona, a Provincial Councillor, is also the School Principal of Jesus Good Shepherd Development Center (JGSDC); Sr. Marivic P. Ching, a classroom teacher, is also the coordinator of Christian Living Education; Sr. Rosario De Guzman manages the School Canteen; Sr. Charmie P. Esquilona takes charge of the Feeding Program and Sr. Amparo T. Hilot coordinates the Diocesan BEC.

For the past fifteen years, Lingayen Community has engaged in the educational pastoral ministry among the young in this historical and progressive town of Pangasinan. Jesus Good Shepherd Development Center was conceived in response to Miss Teresita Nitorreda’s earnest desire to give the out-of-school-youth of Lingayen a place to commune with God for which she generously donated to the Pastorelle Sisters her inherited two ancestral lots located along Maramba Boulevard where the first school building was initially constructed and blessed in May 1998.

Through the years, we have entrusted everything to the Lord, the Divine Provider, who, in his wisdom has designed our past, continues to design the present and the future. After few years, the construction of a separated School Chapel followed where the parishioners, especially the youth are welcomed to pray and hold their occasional formation.

At present, JGSDC has 194 pupils from Junior Kinder to Grade Six, aged 4 to 11 years old. This school year, the New Curriculum mandated by the government, the K-12 Enhanced Basic Education Curriculum, is now being implemented by the school. The activities being offered to the pupils are geared toward the formation of the total person who will be committed to the service of the Church and the society of the future.

This apostolic year, the Feeding Program is done in Baranggay Libsong East. Majority of the constituents of the place who are Catholics hold their weekly Celebration of the Eucharist at the Barangay Chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  There are 42 recipients of the Feeding Program at present ranging from 2.5 to 13 years of age. Regular medical check-up and formation on nutrition, proper way of cooking, table manners, health, personal hygiene and sanitation are give n to them. Sr. Charmie Esquilona takes care of the regular catechism class in particular and teaches these children the basic prayers.

Despite the series of typhoons and floods which our people experienced this year, the recipients of the feeding program are very grateful to the Lord for the abundant blessings they continue to receive not only from the generosity of our benefactors abroad, but also through the kind support of the faithful collaborators of our Sisters in the Parish who are of great help in sustaining the Program.

One of the programs of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan is the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) Program. Sr. Amparo Hilot organizes the small neighborhood communities made up of families from all walks of life. They are gathered to a weekly Bible sharing, hold regular catechesis, pray the rosary together and attend vicarial and diocesan gatherings for spiritual formation. These are all means to help the persons grow in faith and in their loving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His Word.

The regular Celebration of the Eucharist and praying of the Word of God through Lectio Divina link the BEC members to the bigger Church leading them to greater social awareness and deeper social involvement. BEC is not an organization but a way of life geared towards giving back to the poor and the unchurched their sense of dignity which eventually enable them to improve their quality of life. Through the BEC, non-church goers are tapped to participate and actively get involved in all the church activities, so that after having been evangelized, they become evangelizers themselves. Aside from this, the BEC is a useful instrument in which persons are led to a growing awareness and their unique role in the mission of the Church and their responsibilities as Catholics, therefore there is an increase of church-goers.

It is a great joy and a source of giving thanks to the Good Shepherd to see how He is shepherding his people through the way each of you are an expression of his tender love and concern for each person. It is also a source of giving thanks for your attentiveness in placing you whole self at building up the local ecclesial community, collaborating with its pastors.
