Three important gatherings happened simultaneously on October 10, 2015 around the Diocese of Alaminos in the three ministries where we are pastorally involved. These activities coincided during the Canonical visit to our community of Sr. Inacia dos Santos, one of the General Councilors who was accompanied by Sr. Revelina B. Santiago, our Provincial Vicar on October 9-12, 2015. We felt blessed by their presence in our community indeed, our hearts are filled with joy and gratitude.
With the Commission on New Evangelization and BEC, wherein Sr. Argelia Baguio is involved as the Diocesan Religious Coordinator, the Vicarial Level BEC Exchange was held that day. This BEC Exchange is actually conducted quarterly in the four Vicariates of the Diocese. The on-going lay formation and organizing of Parish Evangelization teams for BEC were the highlights of this event. The following groups attended the said event: Bukluran leaders, BEC workers, Barangay Pastoral Council Officers, Parish-BEC evangelizing Team, PPC Officers and other concerned parishioners like catechists and member of the religious Organizations.
On that same day, the Diocesan Ministry for the Pastoral care of Migrants and Itinerant People, in which Sr. Lolita Guibac was just recently assigned and has organized well its first Diocesan Seafarers’ Day. This day is usually celebrated to thank and glorify the Blessed Trinity and to give honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Star of the Sea, to whom the seafaring people call and in whose protection they always trusted. This is also a day to pray for and acknowledge the Seafarers from the Diocese of Alaminos together with their families, including the Memorial at Sea which is a particular prayer activity for the departed seafarers. Different activities followed: the Eucharistic celebration, short program and poster making contest.
Another activity followed towards the afternoon in the Parish of St. Joseph Cathedral, wherein Sr. Rodelia Bordan is engaged in animating the BEC cells in the town area was the Family Bukluran Encounter. This event includes formation of families through the input being imparted to them, group activities and meal together. They also had the chance to encounter their Parish priest and the other priests in the Parish.
It was a long-day but filled with enriching and nourishing encounters with the people of God.
