The solemnity of saints Peter and Paul on Sunday 3rd July 2016, gathered the Pauline Family in Melbourne for prayer. It is an annual event graciously hosted by the Daughters of St Paul. Not all the members of the five Pauline communities were able to participate but they were all represented, and in spirit were represented also the Pauline Family throughout the world. The Melbourne communities have Sisters from Japan, India, Philippines and Italy, a miracle of grace! Some Sisters, like Sr Angelica pddm and Sr Cesarina sjbp, have been in Australia for well over fifty years.
Sr Joanna fsp led the Eucharistic Hour with readings and songs that highlighted the role of saints Peter and Paul in the Church, in the Pauline Family and in our personal spiritual journeys. Taken from Abundantes Divitiae Gratiae Suae 182, we were reminded that, like Peter and Paul, “We can give no greater wealth to this poor and proud world than Jesus Christ”. The Pact was at the heart of our prayer and the final hymn urged us to continue to “bring forth the Kingdom of mercy, the kingdom of peace, the kingdom of justice …”
At the end of the prayer we enjoyed catching up with each other over a cuppa and delicious food.

“We can give no greater wealth to this poor and proud world than Jesus Christ”. That was also the phrase that struck me during our prayer. Thank you dear Sisters! I felt the abundant love of God in our midst as we were made aware of our Pauline Family all throughout the world! May Sts. Peter and Paul intercede for us and for the whole Church.
