Theme: “The Bible at the Heart of Every Home”
It has been the long time dream of Blessed James Alberione when he was alive “to have the Bible at the heart of every home”. To make this dream a reality in our country, the Provincial Superiors of the Pauline Family led by the Society of St. Paul, organized the nationwide celebration of the Month of the Word in September 2017 in response to the initiative of the of the General Government of the Society of St Paul, Daughter of St Paul, Pious Disciple of the Divine Master, Pastorelle Sisters, and the Apostoline Sisters.
To invoke the Holy Spirit to purify our hearts of everything not of God and fill us with his light, so that we may be led by him to an even greater love of the Word, a Triduum Prayer was offered as part of our spiritual preparation alongside with the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to the celebration of the Month of the Word in our Zone.
The Pauline Family in the Northern Luzon Area are composed of the FSP in Tuguegarao and Baguio City, the PDDM in Dagupan City and San Fernando, Pampanga, together with their APCs, and the SSP from the Novitiate Community in San Fernando, Pampanga, the IOLA from the Arch. of Lingayen-Dagupan, and the SJBP in the different communities with their prospective APCs: Banna, Ilocos Norte, San Fernando, La Union, Alaminos and Lingayen, Pangasinan. Hosted by the Pastorelle Sisters, the Celebration was held on September 24, 2017 at the Alberione Hall of Jesus Good Shepherd Development Center in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
There were about a hundred participants (excluding the Pauline Family Members) who came from the different parishes where the Pauline Communities are. The day started with the brief orientation followed by the roll call of the delegates from the different Provinces of the Northern Luzon. The warm-up activities animated by the Pastorelle and SSP Novices kept the day really ‘cool’, entertaining and alive!
The Bible Enthronement officially opened the Celebration after which a meaningful catechesis on its objective was given by the FSP Sister. After the health break, Bro. Lenon, a SSP Novice, led the participants to reflect on “The WORD in our Worlds” : Seeing and welcoming God in the Face of the Stranger. To sum up, he explained that meeting Jesus in the daily context of our lives, in all our experiences, in all our happiness and sufferings, does not necessarily mean that we should always quote the Scriptures in almost every conversation we have. Rather, it means meeting him by loving the Word and living what it says to us in our ordinary everyday life.
To facilitate the learning on the Word of God, each participant received a free copy of the Bible donated by the Pauline Communities present. For the deepening of the lessons, they were then divided into small groups facilitated by the Sisters and SSP Novices, and were given the guide questions for the sharing of their meaningful experience of the day.
There is no better way to conclude the day than with the Eucharistic Celebration animated by our PDDM Sisters and officiated by Fr. Joel Bagona, SSP. The Agape abundantly shared by everybody was indeed a visible expression of unity in diversity, joy, friendship and camaraderie not only among the Pauline Family members present, but also with our Lay Cooperators and participants.
It is our earnest prayer that whatever the Lord has started in us, may be brought to completion in his own time according to his plan. May Jesus Master-Shepherd renew our personal and communal encounter with HIM, the Word of Life made visible, to make of us his effective heralds to those he sends us. May the gift of divine life – communion – spread even more fully among us in the Pauline Family, so that together, we may be able to give Jesus-Master-Shepherd, Way-Truth-Life, to the whole world by bringing “The Bible at the Heart of Every Home”

Indeed the Word of God gathers us, unites us, speaks to our hearts, and with warmed hearts, commissions us to go out and proclaim it in words and actions.
