“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”
(Jn. 10:10)

We praise and thank the Lord, Father, Son and Holy Spirit for gifting us with “bonus years” in his service, coupled with the privilege of enjoying the silence of prolonged prayer of our age that enabled us to see the whole of our existence afresh in his own light.  Moved by the Spirit, we take to heart the admonition of Paul to the Corinthians (cf. 1Cor. 6:19-20), “you are not your own property, you have been brought and paid for, that is why you should use your body for the glory of God.” Be it in good health or sickness therefore, “we welcome our old age as gifts of apostolic fruitfulness” (cf. Gen. Sexennial 2017-2023 on Discipleship).
The program of preparation for the celebration of our 50th Anniversary of Religious Profession was designed according to the physical condition of each Jubilarian. Sr. Mary Edward Parcero (81 years old), has obviously surrendered cheerfully her life to God in her silent suffering for some years now and Sr. Mary Catherine Cleofe (82 years old), notwithstanding her fragile health gives her own joyful share serving as prayer warrior of the community as she lifts to God its daily concerns, the needs of the Church and the present suffering humanity. Instead, Sr. Mary Lily Ann delos Santos while on a short break from the community responsibilities, opted to have a more wholistic preparation through a 2-days seminar-workshop on claiming her “Inner Gold”, followed by 8 days directed retreat facilitated by a Sister of the Religious of  the Cenacle.

On May 28, 2018, at the Chapel of Mary Mother of the Good Shepherd at Jesus Good Shepherd School compound, Imus Cavite, the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration in thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness to our three Jubilarians for the 50 years of Religious Consecration, was presided by Most Rev. Pedro D. Arigo, D.D, Bishop Emeritus of Puerto Princesa and was also the homilist. Most Rev. Reynaldo Evangelista, D.D, Bishop of Imus also concelebrated with other twenty priests from the different parishes including our brother priests from the Society of St. Paul. Likewise, the Pauline Family was well represented from the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master, the Institute of the Our Lady of the Annunciation, Institute of Jesus the Priest, and the Pastorelle Pauline Cooperators from Manila, Alaminos and Lingayen, Pangasinan. The celebration was graced by the presence of the big number of guests from the Jubilarians’ family members and friends, benefactors of the Congregation, associates and collaborators in the pastoral ministry. The Celebration culminated with simple Agape and short impromptu program prepared by our Sisters to honor our three Jubilarians.

In conclusion, we recall Pope Francis statement from his Encyclical “Laudato Si”, speaking of the unending spirituality of interconnectedness in the whole of creation.  Ecology calls it “zero waste” wherein nothing is rejected, wasted or thrown away. Everything is recycled into something new and useful. So with our life with God.  In him there is no light nor darkness, because light and darkness are but one.  Both are permitted by God in our life to suit his own plan, as Paul expresses it in his letter to the Romans (cf. Rom. 8:28), “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”  Whatever painful memories we have had then from our “brokenness” or present sufferings we have learned to welcome and offer to God with love, we believe that “in Christ our humanity is brought to the heights of God and earth is united to heaven”, as Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI puts it. (cf. Spiritual Reflection on “Jesus Reveals the Final Destination of our Earthly Pilgrimage”).

No matter what lies ahead for us, three Jubilarians, with Paul, we pray that we may come to know this God and “the fullness of the One who fills all things in every way.”  (cf. Eph. 1:23)
