Sunday, 24 June 2018, was a blessed day for the Pauline Cooperators Friends of Jesus Good Shepherd of Melbourne, a day of celebration and thanksgiving for the presence of Pauline Cooperators in the Pauline Family.
The Eucharist was celebrated in our Bundoora chapel with Fr Michael Goonan ssp as main celebrant, and the participation of an intimate number of 28 Cooperators, the Daughters of St Paul and the Sister Disciples of the Divine Master.
Fr Goonan highlighted the milestone of the centenary of Pauline Cooperators. In his homily (attached), he pointed out the important role of the Cooperators in the Pauline Family, each in his/her own way called to holiness, to cooperate in the spread of the Gospel and to witness to Christ as did St. John the Baptist whose feast was celebrated on the day of gathering. The participants felt that special link with the Pauline Family having been given the emblem of the Pauline Cooperators, a recognition of the many years that they have been journeying with the Pastorelle, and doing ministry works where they are and according to according to their situation.
Several of our Cooperators who have already died were remembered during the Mass with deep gratitude.
After the Eucharist, the group enjoyed a simple agape, a much-valued occasion for deepening friendship and relationship with one another. Indeed a day to thank and praise God for this fraternal gathering, to thank God for the gift of the Pauline Cooperators in the Pauline Family who with their own unique charisms are able to bring Christ to wherever they are in the world.
